Welcome to the Youth Movement Against Crime
ALWAYS AT THE FOREFRONT OF CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS
With over 10years of existence, Youth Movement Against Crime have conducted series of projects and activities in schools and communities, and in lieu of the high rates of crime and violence over the years, we have also equally involved in life-changing programs to curb the menace and form the basis upon which our future projects are formed. The YMAC program empowers youths to take an active role in addressing the problems around them.
The Youth Movement Against Crime program offers a wide variety of components based on their “Watch Out, Help Out”. We are committed to providing assistance and/or resource materials on all our components.
As vividly stated in the United Nations’ Universal Declaration on Human Rights; Human rights are “basic rights and freedoms that all people are entitled to regardless of nationality, sex, national or ethnic origin, race, religion, language, or other status. Economic, social and cultural rights are socio-economic human rights, such as the right to education, the right to housing, and the right to health. Economic, social and cultural rights are recognized and protected in international and regional human rights instruments.
Member states have a legal obligation to respect, protect and fulfill economic, social and cultural rights and are expected to take “progressive action” towards their fulfillment.
The Youth Movement Against Crime (YMAC) in line with the United Nations universal declaration thus recognizes a number of economic, social and cultural rights as enshrined in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), among others. Youth Movement Against Crime is a youth-led movement committed to create a crime-free, drug-free and violence-free environment conducive for learning and living. It is a positive gang that change the mood of schools and communities where we work.
The increasing wave of crime in the last decade due to the continuous downturn in the economies of nations across the globe and the rising spate of moral decadence has called for a very urgent need to stem the negative trend. In the midst of this new sad dispensation, a lot of innocent lives have been lost in crimes such as armed robbery, burglary or rape, terrorism, drug addiction, and allied incidences of criminal acts.
And the psychological trauma that is inherited by the victims gives a lot of worry to both the victims and their immediate families. The use of drugs in schools (at all levels) has also sky-rocketed. Thus, the apparent need for a training/enlightenment of youth who are very vulnerable and ready instruments in the hand of agents of criminal acts in different communities cannot however be over emphasized. The joblessness of youths of differing ages and/or the restlessness of these cadre of nations’ population has resulted according to the indiscriminate use of aid invention of means of livelihood that are shameful to say the least.
All of these above and some others like it are what has propelled the founder of YMAC to think globally of possibilities of ensuring that the negative trends are stemmed so that the present youths indeed becomes the real hope of the Nations positively.
