About Us

10+ Years’ Experience In Crime Prevention.

YMAC brings youths of all backgrounds together to identify and correct problems unique to their schools and communities. The YMAC program empowers youths to take an active role in addressing the problems around them. Youths take ownership of their own YMAC program for their schools and neighborhoods, etc.

Youth Movement Against Crime conducts international and local capacity-building /training events that are tailored to the needs of individual school, community, city or state situations. Professional, nationally certified crime prevention practitioners conduct these trainings, which include youth crime prevention conference, training of trainers, leadership retreat, and implementation training. YMAC is dedicated to providing on-going support and aid to its existing and emerging YMAC outlets. This promotes continual success by providing the outlets with the most updated and current resources and services.

YMAC through the support of our sponsors/donors produces or supplies materials, such as manuals, monographs, videos, posters, T-shirts and other educational products, to aid youth and adults in their crime prevention efforts, ranging from starting to maintain a successful Youth Movement Against Crime program.

Our History

Youth Movement Against Crime was established in 2009 to prevent crime in schools and communities. It was founded by a group of young people who felt there was a need for the intervention of young people to curb the emerging prevalence of crime in societies, but within all societies across the globe.

Since its inception, over a decade ago, YMAC has enlisted youth in crime reduction efforts in their schools and communities. We have taught young people how to conduct patrols, report crime. In the first year of the program’s implementation, students helped to reduce their school crime problem.

Equally important was the change in the students’ attitudes. They were learning they could make a positive difference. Students were reporting crime, saw positive results and enjoyed significantly improved morale and school spirit. YMAC has mentored young people, participated in action projects, and contributed to the overall improvement of our communities. This program has spread to other various countries beyond The Gambia where it originated from.
